Jaw Couplings

Mechanical power transmission jaw couplings connect driving and driven equipment with rigid jaw hubs which may have flexibility dampened with a flexible component called a spider. In a coupling with an elastomeric spider, the conventional rigidity of the metallic jaw coupling is replaced with a spider having some elasticity and may also carry tubular sleeves or coil springs supported by spider pins. These flexible elements may compress radially and torsionally to allow a specified level of equipment damping and tolerance to misalignment. Applications include wood chippers, mud pumps, conveyors, compressors, generators, fans, pumps, washers and dryers.
